چکیده

Resolution enhancement (RE) schemes (which are not based on wavelets) suffer from the drawback of losing high-frequency contents (which results in blurring). The discrete-wavelettransform-based (DWT) RE scheme generates artifacts (due to a DWT shift-variant property). A wavelet-domain approach based on dual-tree complex wavelet transform (DT-CWT) and nonlocal means (NLM) for RE of the satellite images. A satellite input image is decomposed by DT-CWT (which is nearly shift invariant) to obtain high-frequency sub bands. The high-frequency sub bands and the low-resolution (LR) input image are interpolated using the Lanczos interpolator. Bicubic Interpolation look‘s best with smooth edges and much less blurring than the Lanczos result. The highfrequency sub bands are passed through an NLM filter to cater for the artifacts generated by DT-CWT (despite of its nearly shift invariance). The filtered high-frequency sub bands and the LR input image are combined using inverse DT-CWT to obtain a resolution-enhanced image. Objective and subjective analyses reveal the superiority of the proposed technique over the conventional and state-of-the-art RE techniques.

A Deep Model for Super-resolution Enhancement from a Single Image

This study presents a method to reconstruct a high-resolution image using a deep convolution neural network. We propose a deep model, entitled Deep Block Super Resolution (DBSR), by fusing the output features of a deep convolutional network and a shallow convolutional network. In this way, our model benefits from high frequency and low frequency features extracted from deep and shallow networks...

Image Super Resolution on the Basis of DWT and Bicubic Interpolation

This paper describes a super-resolution technique based on interpolation of the high-frequency subband images obtained by discrete wavelet transform (DWT) and the input image. This technique uses DWT to decompose an image into different subband images. Then the high-frequency subband images and the low-resolution input image have been interpolated, followed by combining all these images to gene...

A Novel Resolution Enhancement Scheme Based on Edge Directed Interpolation using DT-CWT for Satellite Imaging Applications

Image resolution enhancement is a usable process for many image processing applications such as geoscience studies, astronomy and geographical information systems. Image interpolation is popularly used to increase the image resolution, but the potential problem associated with it is to magnify the image many times without loss in image clarity. Most of the classical linear interpolation techniq...

A New Technique for Image Zooming Based on the Moving Least Squares

In this paper, a new method for gray-scale image and color zooming algorithm based on their local information is offered. In the proposed method, the unknown values of the new pixels on the image are computed by Moving Least Square (MLS) approximation based on both the quadratic spline and Gaussian-type weight functions. The numerical results showed that this method is more preferable to biline...

Image Up-Sampling Using Discrete Wavelet Transform

Image up-sampling is found to be a very effective technique useful in today’s digital image processing applications or rendering devices. In image upsampling, an image is enhanced from a lower resolution to a higher resolution with the degree of enhancement depending upon application requirements. It is known that the traditional interpolation based approaches for up-sampling, such as Bilinear ...
